Makeup artist in Varketili

Varketili sits on the route out towards the airport and the Kakheti highway. For anyone with an early flight and a reason to be photographed at the other end — a wedding abroad, a shoot, a family event — that matters.

An appointment here at five or six in the morning is a realistic request rather than an awkward one, because the drive out is against the direction everyone else is going.

It works in the other direction too. An event out along the Kakheti road, or at a venue past Lilo, is closer from here than from anywhere central.

The Tbilisi Sea reservoir is a short drive north-east and is one of the most-used outdoor photography locations on this side of the city — open water, wide sky, and no buildings in the frame.

It is also completely exposed. There is no shade, wind comes off the water most afternoons, and in summer the temperature there is noticeably higher than in the city.

Makeup for a shoot there is planned for those conditions specifically: a long-wear base rather than a standard one, everything set firmly against the wind, and a realistic expectation that a touch-up will be needed if the shoot runs past two hours. Say it is happening when you book, not when the car is loaded.

Like Gldani, Varketili is built as numbered micro-districts of standard blocks, and the practical address is a block and entrance number rather than a street name.

A map pin is the most useful thing you can send. Buildings repeat, entrance numbering is not always visible from the road, and time spent finding the right door comes out of the appointment rather than out of the drive.

The floor and the state of the lift are the other two things worth saying. Neither changes the price; both change what time the artist sets off.

Varketili and Samgori are both on the metro, and for a single appointment that is a genuine alternative worth weighing rather than dismissing.

Coming into the city for an appointment removes the drive from the equation entirely, and at rush hour the metro from Varketili to the centre is reliably faster than a car.

For a wedding morning it is the wrong choice — nobody should be travelling with finished makeup on the day. For a trial, a consultation or a single evening appointment, it is often the easier option and the decision is yours.
