Makeup artist in Gori

Distance alone is a poor guide to whether a booking is workable. Telavi is only four kilometres further than Gori and takes nearly twice as long, because the road goes over a pass.

Gori does not have that problem. The route is highway from the Tbilisi ring road to the Gori turn-off, and the drive holds up in poor weather in a way mountain routes do not.

So Gori is a same-day city. The artist leaves Tbilisi in the early morning, works, and returns — no overnight stay, and the travel fee reflects that.

A large share of Gori bookings are not in Gori itself. Uplistsikhe, ten kilometres east, and the Ateni valley south of the city are both used for wedding photography and for shoots, and they add a short leg to the day rather than a new journey.

That matters for planning. If the ceremony is in town and the photographs are at Uplistsikhe, the makeup has to hold through a car journey, a walk across rock, and an afternoon of open sun with no shade.

Say where the photographs are happening when you book. It changes the base — outdoor stone locations in summer need long-wear products and a plan for touch-ups, and that is decided in advance rather than discovered at the site.

Gori bookings skew towards family occasions: weddings, christenings and anniversaries, usually with the whole family involved and often with several people wanting makeup on the same morning.

Church ceremonies are common, and Georgian church interiors are dark and lit by candles. That is warm, uneven light from above, and it needs a face built for it — more definition around the eye, warmer tones, and restraint with anything reflective.

The practical consequence is scheduling. Church ceremonies here tend to start early, which means the artist is leaving Tbilisi around dawn. That is workable but it has to be agreed at booking, not on the morning.

Because the trip is an hour and a quarter each way, group bookings make more sense here than single appointments — and most Gori bookings are groups.

The arithmetic to keep in mind is simple: an hour per person, and the first appointment has to start early enough that the last one finishes before anybody needs to leave. Four people is four hours.

Booking the whole group at once also means one travel fee rather than several, which is the main reason it is worth deciding early who is having makeup rather than adding people in the last week.

Makeup starts at 150 GEL. Travel to Gori is quoted by distance before you book and is fixed from that point; nothing is added afterwards.

Write with the date, the start time of the event, the address and how many people need makeup. Those four things are enough for an exact quote and a confirmation.

For a wedding, book as early as you can. Saturdays through the summer and early autumn go first, and Gori competes for those dates with everywhere else in Shida Kartli.
