New Year party makeup

Festive makeup is the one time of year when shimmer is expected rather than tolerated. It is also the one that most often goes wrong, because shimmer behaves in two completely different ways: in a room, and under a flash.

Two things called shimmer

There are two genuinely different products hiding behind one word. The first is a fine, diffuse glow that makes skin look alive. The second is visible particles you can pick out individually.

The first photographs well when it sits on the top of the cheekbone. The second is striking in person and turns into scattered white dots under a flash. So the decision is never whether to use shimmer — it is which one, and where.

A long night, and a cold one

New Year's Eve often runs twelve hours and includes a table, a trip outside into the cold, and a return to a heated room. That temperature swing is harder on a base than the length of the night is.

Coming in from the cold, skin releases moisture — and that is the exact moment badly set makeup breaks. So the base is built as though going outside is guaranteed, because it usually is.

Colours that do not date the photograph

The commonest festive mistake is repeating the colours of the occasion on the face. Red and green work on clothes and almost never on skin.

One accent is safer: either an eye with luminous texture or a lip with strong colour. Both together photograph as a costume rather than as makeup, and the photograph is what survives the night.

Booking in December

31 December and the 24th and 25th are the busiest dates of the year and are normally full by November. If you need one of them, write early.

We come to you, which matters more on a festive night than any other: transport is the hardest part of that evening's plan. Prices start at 150 GEL.

Frequently asked questions

Does shimmer photograph well?
It depends on the type and the placement. Fine, diffuse glow on the top of the cheekbone works even under flash; larger particles read as white dots. That is the choice being made, not whether to use it at all.
Will it last all night?
Yes, if we know whether you will be going outside. Moving from cold air into a heated room is the hardest moment for a base, and it is planned for separately.
Do you work on 31 December?
Yes, but that date is usually taken by November. If you need it, write as early as you can — even before the rest of the evening is arranged.
Is there a holiday surcharge?
No. Prices start at 150 GEL as on any other date. There is no separate festive rate.
