Speaking and attending are different problems

If you are presenting, your face is seen from a distance under strong overhead light. That light flattens features, so natural makeup on a stage produces a face that disappears.

If you are attending, your face is seen close up and mostly in natural or mixed light — and the same makeup now reads as too much. So the first question is which of the two you will be.

Camera and recording

Most conferences are recorded, streamed or photographed. One rule matters more than the rest for a camera: luminous texture reads as oily skin, particularly on the forehead and nose.

So corporate makeup always includes a mattifying step, even on dry skin — with a different product, and only through the T-zone.

A long day

A conference or a full day of meetings runs eight hours and includes coffee, lunch and a great deal of talking. That changes the lip product entirely: anything that transfers onto a cup is the wrong choice for this day.
