On dry skin, base gathers in flaking patches. On oily skin it slides. In both cases the problem is the skin rather than the base, which is why buying a more expensive foundation changes nothing.

Proper preparation is two steps: moisturising for your skin type, and waiting for it to absorb. That wait — usually five minutes — is the stage that gets skipped most often, and it costs more than any product choice.

The order of the layers

Each layer has to sit on the one before rather than mix into it, which is why the order is fixed.

Heat and humidity

In a Tbilisi summer, and far more so in Batumi, humidity is what defeats a base. In humid air skin releases more moisture and product travels with it.

In those conditions we use humidity-resistant formulas and reduce the number of cream products. It is the case where less product produces the more durable result.
